Maithripala says he never brought his family into politics

General secretary of the SLFP Maithripala Sirisenasays he has never brought his family into politics.

He was addressing UPFA members of HingurakgodaPradeshiya Sabha on the occasion of their assumption of duties yesterday (Aug. 07).

Mr. Sirisena said he has been an exemplary politician for the party, for which he has been the general secretary for 11 years.

He went onto say that his political career spanned 43 years, with 23 of them as an MP, but he had never brought his 12 brothers and sisters into politics.

Deputy minister Siripala Gamlath and several other politicians were present on the occasion.
