Ranil Wickremesinghe stresses that he will continue be leader of all in the UNP, although a handful islevelling criticism against him.
He says unity and discipline are keys to the progress of the party.
Mr. Wickremesinghe was speaking at the swearing in of newly-elected local government members from theUNP at Sirikotha today (Aug. 05).
He went onto say that there is no need to respond to criticisms being levelled by some regarding the party leadership.
No opportunity will be given to strengthen the government or to create news for the media, said Mr.Wickremesinghe.
This was the first function attended by him after co-deputy leader Sajith Premadasa asked co-deputy leaderKaru Jayasuriya to take reins of the party.
Mr. Jayasuriya was also present on the occasion.
