Injured Sri Lanka ruling party MP Duminda Silva cannot recall shooting incident
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of Sri Lanka police informed a court today that a statement had been recorded last Friday from governing part parliamentarian Duminda Silva who was injured in a shootout last year.
The CID has told the Colombo Magistrate’s Court that Silva who is receiving medical treatment in Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore has said that he cannot recall the shooting incident that took place in Mulleriyawa last October and the killing of Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
The CID submitted its report based on the statement of the MP to the Colombo Magistrate.
The statement given by Silva has said that he only remembered speaking to an election candidate in Tamilnadu Watte area earlier in the day and then waking up in a hospital.
Meanwhile, court has also been informed that Silva’s surgeon Dr. Keith has said that the MP needs to undergo two more surgeries to the head and the hand.
